Gryffon
This is Gryffon, my first bi-black Sheltie. He was a ball hound, just an absolute fanatic about them. He also loved water but didn't like to swim. From the first time I saw him, he was mine.
But I lost Gryffon at just 7 and half years old. He had been treated for a gastrointestinal infection, bladder stones, ulcers but it turned out after exploratory surgery that he had an abdominal wall infection. He survived the surgery but not the post operation period.
Gryffon was very shy with people but of all my dogs, I always thought he was the one who would have protected me. After he passed, this song There's a Hero by Billy Gilman became Gryffon's song.
I'm sure Gryffon was hero, even if he didn't show that to most people.

ReplyDeleteThank-you.
DeleteHe was beautiful. Thank you for sharing your memories with us.
ReplyDeleteIt's a happy memory now, even when I hear the song I just get nostalgic not sad.
DeleteI am so deeply sorry about Gryffon, he left much, much too early. What an incredibly handsome dog. (((hugs))))

He was handsome, he was what I always imagined for a black and white dog, the split face, the full white collar.
DeleteSo sweet but sad too.
ReplyDeleteIts is but it's bittersweet now not really sad.
DeleteSuch a handsome little boy. I see similarities to Oreo too...same smile. I'm sorry you lost him so soon. That is just heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteI think they might have been quite a bit alike. Gryffon was fine with people if you gave him the chance to get to know them on his terms.
DeleteWhat a sad loss.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing his story, he was a handsome boy.
Arran is like that, very shy, but he always tries to put himself in between me and whatever he is scared of.
It was so sad, I always wondered if I had pushed the vets a bit more.
DeleteBeautiful song!
ReplyDeleteYes, I love it!
