Flower Friday

Yes, I know it's Saturday but we took these photos yesterday of some of flowers that we see on our walk. I chose flowers that were more like wild flowers than those in flower beds.

Today it is very humid, I had sweat dripping off me just walking the dogs. We will wait until later this evening to go out again.

Before lunch today, Beckett wanted to go out so I let him go outside. He went and laid under the cedar bush. Poor boy, I forgot he was out there until lunch time when he started crying at the step. At first I thought is was on the TV, then I realized that Beckett had been outside probably for about an hour.  He's now asleep laying on the cool tile in front of the fireplace.

Friday Flowers

These flowers I did plant, but last year. I didn't get around to buying any flowers for the bed beside the garage. But these marigolds that I thought were annuals came back this year.  They're stinky but they're my type of plant as they require very little attention from me.

My bleeding heart (dangling heart), this is something I planted. I think it loves this location. It's at it peak right now; it gets kind of tired looking after the summer heat gets to it.

 I'm not much of a gardener, I've dug up a lot of what the previous owner put in. He had beautiful flower beds all nicely trenched. I filled those trenches in so the yard was easier to mow. Now I have these violets all over the place. They are very invasive; it wouldn't be bad but they die away to nothing and in the spring the areas where they grow are just mud.

Changes

I started taking pictures of the tree in my front yard, when on 2 Apr it already had buds on the branches.

Little by little, you can see the changes that spring brings, new beginnings.

Spring came a little early and in some places, frost killed off many of the buds but it didn't seem to hurt my tree.

Such a shame the flowers are here for only a short time.

But now the berries will come and when they are ripe the birds will feast on them.

True Colours - Grapple

Whew, this week's colour challenge was really hard. And it didn't help that I've had a really bad cold the past few days so I haven't felt like doing much at all.

Thank goodness for dog toys is all I can say.  And you'll understand when you see my selections.

First though are some close-ups of the bouquet one of my sisters sent for my birthday.

Next up, since we didn't find anything else, are some of Beckett and Tucker's toys.

 The Frisbee was Tucker's and was one of the few toys he actually played with; now it's Beckett's favourite indoor Frisbee.

Stuffed Bones

One of the local agility clubs used to give a stuffed toy for each dog entered in their trials. You got to choose the toy you wanted; so once I chose these two for Ceilidh and Tucker. As you can see they have not been played with much, they've been at the bottom of the toy box so even Beckett hasn't touched them much at all. Does that say my dogs have too many toys??

One thing I found this week, is that it is hard to photograph purple. The purple colour often looks blue, like the bone in the picture above. The bone really is a very light shade of violet with purple dots on it but it doesn't look that way in the picture.
