Thoughtful Thursday - Tributes

I have tributes to my furkids that have passed over to the Bridge on a web site called In Memory of Pets and links to their tributes are on my blog page. About a month ago, I tried the links and they did not work. I was upset at the loss as those words, written in a time of grief, were a powerful memory for me and I hadn't thought to save what I had written anywhere else.  Well, today I tried  one of the links again and it still didn't work but it brought me to a newly designed web site and I was able to find my tributes to Duffy, Gryffon, Ceilidh and Tucker.

So in order not to lose them once again, I'll copy them here.

 Duffy

May 25 1988 ----- February 10 2000

I miss you Duffy.
From the first time I saw you
you were mine.
We had so many good times.
You were the most friendly beautiful soul I've ever met.
Trusting and loving
you were the most faithful of friends and my best friend.
I wanted to be with you at the end
but you picked your own time to go.
Gryffon misses you too.
love,
Momma

Gryffon

November 22 1994 ----- August 23 2002

My buddy, my friend.
So shy, most people didn’t know the real you.
Boundless energy,
you were always ready to play!
Boundless love,
you were always ready for a cuddle or to
give me a big hug!
Gone from my life,
you’ll never be gone from my heart!
I miss you and Tucker misses you too.
Love forever,
Momma
Kelbren Ceilidh Everlasting

January 21 2003  ----- 26 May 2010

My little princess
Spin, dance, prance,
Your joy for life was ever present.
Quiet with your affection,
I always knew you were my girl.
Loud in your opinion,
It always seemed I let you have your way.
I miss your beautiful tail, sparkling eyes, and happy smile,
You were such a beautiful girl.
I miss your exuberant greetings,
Our home is so quiet without you.
Although it hurt deeply to let you go,
I knew it was the right thing for you.
My wonderful, crazy Ceilidh,
You’ll be Everlasting in my Heart.

Love,

Momma, Tucker and Beckett

Tucker

October 31 2000  ----- August 23 2012

My Steadfast little man,
so loyal and true,
these are just a few words that describe you,
Thoughtful and wise,
I’ll never forget your soulful eyes.
Cool and brave,
It was your best effort that you always gave.
Trusting and smart,
even though we’re now apart,
You’ll be forever in my heart.

Miss you so much Boo!!

My Fur Kids!

For my 300th blog post, I'm remembering all my fur kids with their baby pictures. It's my first attempt at a collage. I really have to learn to work with the photo editor software that I have but it didn't turn out too bad.

Clockwise starting top left:

Ceilidh, my second bi-black and, to date, my only little girl, wonderful crazy Ceilidh gone too soon.
Duffy, my first Sheltie, the one who started this addiction.
Keltic, my youngest, my wild child, but he'll grow up one day.
Beckett, my cuddly handsome boy and my second Agility Champion.
Gryffon, my first bi-black, couldn't live without a bi-black now, so handsome, he also was gone too soon.
Tucker, my second sable, my first agility dog and first Agility Champion.

Happy Birthday Tucker

Tucker would have been twelve years old today. Since he was born on Halloween, I always dressed him in costume and I told the little trick or treaters that came to my door that it was his birthday.  The reaction from the littlest ones was priceless, they would tell him "Happy Birthday" and usually run and tell Mom or Dad, "It's the doggie's birthday." I'll miss that this year.

Devil Prince
Tucker's passing still brings me some worries; should I have taken him to the vet, could they have saved him, was he in real discomfort? I think I kind of knew in my heart though that it was his time and wanted to have a few more hours with him; I thought that if I took him the vet's office I might have had to make that last decision and would left the office without him and not had the chance to spend those last few hours with him.

Tucker and big brother Gryffon
I found this poem on line shortly after his passing to the Bridge. I had never seen this one before even though I looked for poems such as this when Ceilidh passed away.  Perhaps my heart did hear the whispers of Tucker's voice. Tucker seemed to have a peaceful passing and even though I was with him, he went without a sound while I was asleep so I didn't actually see him leave on the journey.

While you could not speak the words,
I could hear the whispers of your voice.
Telling me it was time to go,
to celebrate your life and rejoice.

You decided it was time to go and
find your resting ground.
You lay down your tired head and
went without a sound.

In my heart I know you loved me,
as much as I loved you.
I pray you've found the peace,
that's helped to see me through.

I thank you for all the joy in my life
and the smiles you've brought to me.
May God guide you on your journey and
may your spirit always run free.

Deja Vu

In the summer of 2004, I took Ceilidh and Tucker to Presqu'ile Provincial Park. We stopped and camped in Presqu'ile on the way home to Angus, Ontario, following a trip down east to visit my folks. I took pictures of them on the old Marsh Board Walk, just as this year I took pictures of Beckett and Keltic on the new Marsh Board Walk. The old Marsh Board walk was condemned the summer after these photos were taken and the new one was opened in 2007.

I guess this does show the more things change, the more they stay the same and that life does go on.

Tucker's Travels are Over

Today, I lost one of my best friends, my sable Sheltie, Tucker.

He had a fearless heart, a quiet mind, was straight and true and brave and cool, everything I wish I was.

He began his travels in New Brunswick but at three years of age moved to Ontario where he began his agility career. He moved once more to Ottawa where he continued to be successful in the agility ring.

For a Sheltie, he had a quiet and thoughtful mind; no spinning for him.  When I would send him out to do a gamble, if he didn't get it right away, I could see him thinking about what he should do next; if my handling was good (and sometimes even if it was not that good), he would get the gamble.

I started the stories of his travels with high liver values and Cushings in Oct 2010 just before his 10th birthday.  I was so sure he would see his 12th birthday but that was not to be. When I came home from a camping trip with Beckett and Keltic, my sister called to say that he wasn't eating and hadn't stood on his own all day. I went over to pick him up and he didn't come to greet me but he looked stable enough that I decided to wait until today to take him to my own vet rather than go the 24 hour animal hospital, Alta Vista.  Late last night, he took a turn for the worst. I got him in a more comfortable position and laid down with him. I fell asleep listening to him breathe but by this morning he was gone.

31 Oct 2000 - 23 Aug 2012

I hope I didn't let him down.
Good Bye Sweet Tucker Boo.

Jump your Bones

Tucker and Beckett received their surprise Jump Your Bones dog treats from Tibby today. They received a sample of Roo Bites and Tuna. They never had Roo Bites before so we opened them first. Tucker gobbled them right up, Beckett wasn't too sure about the first piece but in the end was looking for more. We saved the tuna treats until after supper.

Can we open it NOW!!

Why does she have to take more pictures?

Are you sure there aren't any left??
Beckett and Tucker would sure like to thank Tibby and her Mom for sending such wonderful treats.

True Colours - Apple Green

Well, I can't say that its early spring here. We had quite a bit of snow last week so it's still very white but hopefully it will begin to melt soon enough as it is supposed to warm up later this week.

This week's colour is apple-green. Most of the items I found were kitchen items or at least found in the kitchen.

Salad bowl and green cutting board

From right under Beckett and Tucker's noses, their water bowl. I used to have a water bowl for each dog but found that they liked to share. Now there is one bowl upstairs and one downstairs.

The next selections are from my dining room which is painted with two shades of green. You can see the colours of the wall in the dining room in the pictures below. The upper colour is very much a spring or apple green. The art tile is a Christmas gift I gave to my Dad; he loved bird watching.

Pear and Apple Salt and Pepper Shakers
And now for the twist, I didn't have any green apples, only Gala apples which are mostly red so I didn't want to buy any more so I took my picture in the grocery store with my Smart phone and e-mailed it to myself. Isn't technology wonderful?

How do you like them Green apples?
